Gaetano Previati’s Via Crucis
Previati is once more the great driving force behind the crossover from the culture of the 1800s to that of the 1900s: his charming Stations of the Cross frescoes were brought from the cemetery of Castano Primo, and are a youthful opus (1882-1888) that bear witness to the initiation of what was by then Italian art’s opening up to Europe, observing the new symbolism arriving from abroad. The Via Crucis is the symbolic and chronological end of the Diocesan Museum tour. .
