VISITS AND WORKSHOPS
Educational visits and workshops
The tempera on wood panel, the gilding technique that can be seen in all its splendour in the Fondi Oro collection, the oil painting that is typical of the enchanting landscapes in the Pozzobonelli Collection, the mosaic method so masterfully applied in the San Vittore in Ciel d'Oro chapel in Sant'Ambrogio and in the San Lorenzo chapel of Sant'Aquilino: these are the main artistic techniques analysed in the workshops, whilst the educational tour will relate the works of art to the history and culture context, to develop a wide and enthralling historical overview of Ambrosian territory.

The Painter's Studio
The techniques and processes used in Medieval studios, and the religious meaning of the paintings that decorate the church altars in the Ambrosian Diocese, will first be introduced to the students in a visit to the Fondi Oro [gold backgrounds] section, then they will be allowed to experiment with tempera in a short workshop.

Nature, Landscape and the Mystery of the Pozzobonelli Collection
The charm and the significance of Nature and the landscape that are concealed in the Pozzobonelli Collection's eighteenth-century paintings are revealed to the pupils during a study course that is completed by taking part in a short painting workshop.

Once upon a time there was … Bishop Ambrose
The tour offers the chance to familiarize with several significant figures from Milan's past, including Bishop Ambrose, through paintings, sculptures and precious objects; the visit is combined with a short mosaic workshop, where coloured tesserae are used to realize an image of Late Antique inspiration.

General Tour of the Diocesan Museum
This tour evolves through the Museum's main sections, from a presentation of the great figure of Bishop Ambrose, then through over 1600 years of art history, up to the twentieth century.
